In last Wednesday's New York Times, the panel tasted wines from Portugal costing between $7 and $87.  They found again, as they had two years ago, that there is great value to be found in Portuguese wines, and that the less expensive wines fared better than the expensive ones.

We've carried the Lavradores de Feitoria Douro Tinto 2009 on and off for years, and it's always been one of my favorite wines for the price.  The wine sells for $12 and beat wines costing from $16 to $81!  For today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) we'll price it at $11 and have it open in the evenings for tasting.  I imagine the wine will sell out quickly, so if you can't stop by call the store or click here to purchase online.

The Times described the Lavradores as having, " Exotic flavors of wild herbs, anise and fruit with dusty tannins."  I would add that the fruit is dark, these are port grapes after all, the body medium,  the finish quite long for a wine of this price.
