While in college on an athletic scholarship Joseph Davis took a job at a wine shop.  One Christmas, a good customer brought Joe a gift of a 1978 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, Domaine Dujac. The profound experience of that wine lead him to a new dream of making wine in a way that honored the classic style of the old world while expressing the unique qualities of California's Central Coast. Davis grows his own grapes instead of buying bulk juice and keeps yields low. The resulting wine speaks more about where it came from than about the hands that made it. This "somewhereness" vs. "someoneness" concept appeals to Davis because he believes the best wine is made more in the vineyard than in the winery.
Peppery red berry and cherry aromas are complemented by notes of black olive and cracked pepper. An energetic syrah, offering gently sweet raspberry and cherry flavors.
