Friedrich Becker Estate Pinot Noir 2009

Friedrich Becker was the first in his family to break with the tradition of supplying grapes to the local co-operative and start bottling his own wines. It wasn't long before he established himself as one of the best producers in the Pfalz region, particularly for his outstanding pinot noirs. But it was his legendary 1989 vintage that put him on the map as one of the leading red wine producers in all of Germany.

This pinot is not a big, extracted wine overwhelmed by new wood. Rather it is a pure, juicy, elegant wine with a taut, disciplined balance.
