Occhipinti Montemaggiore Aleatico 2009

After graduating from the University of Tuscia in 2004, Andrea Occhipinti fell in love with and purchased 4 hectares of vineyards located on the volcanic slopes of Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Europe. The Aleatico grapes, an indigenous variety from Lazio, are left on the vines until the end of October and are picked completely by hand overripe. The wine is fermented and aged for over two years in 100% stainless steel, making this sweet wine clean and zippy fresh.
Medium-bodied, with light tannins, the flavors are reminiscent of molasses, figs, and red berries dusted with sugar.
