Andreas Schmitges Erdener Treppchen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese 2005 375ml
Trockenbeerenauslese
wines, are made from individually selected grapes affected by noble
rot, i.e. ''botrytized'' grapes. This means that the grapes are dry and
shrivelled, often to the point of appearing like a raisin. These rare
wines can be made only in years that the vineyards are effected by the
botrytis and their production is extremely labor intensive.
Smells
intensely of apricot and peach, and comes onto the palate with an
enveloping creaminess, and flavors of apricot, peach, nut paste, and a
whiff of truffle. Hints of wet stones and smoky red slate nuances are
in evidence in the long, fabulously rich finish.
Schmitges recently changed it's U.S. importer so we are able to offer this wine at half it's usual price.
